Now, these aren’t going to be your typical back to school items. I’m not going to tell you to get notebooks and pens and page protectors – I hope you’ve got the majority of the usual stuff down. What I am going to tell you are the things that I consider some lesser-known essentials for hitting back to school right, staying organized, and having a great start at our beloved GC.
A Killer Playlist – When those 8 a.m.’s hit you hard (and they will, trust me), you are gonna need some pumping music to get you going and ready to conquer the day! A few suggestions are “Shut Up and Dance” by WALK THE MOON, “Uma Thurman” by Fall Out Boy, “Sugar” by Maroon 5, and “Marvin Gaye” by Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor (personal fave).
A Planner – This is a MUST. You will inevitably be exhausted, overworked, and overbooked, so unless you want to forget pretty much every single thing in your life, you need to invest in a solid planner. There are plenty of options out there, from the clearance bin at Office Max (don’t hate, they have good finds) to Erin Condren or Lilly Pulitzer – so get out there and get organized! If you get your life together with a planner, you won’t have to go the hyperventilating-in-a-brown-paper-bag route. Big time-saver.
Snacks – Schedules are crazy and school is hard. To survive those classes that for some insane ungodly reason go through lunch and/or dinner, pack some sustenance to help you survive. But don’t bring things in super loud, crinkly packages unless you live for death stares and awkward tension. Don’t be that kid.
Coffee – Self-explanatory.
A Beach Towel – This sounds weird, but hear me out. So, your class ends early and it’s beautiful outside and you don’t feel like walking back to Wells or Adams or your apartment in the awkward amount of time you have between now and your next class… What do you do? You can grab a snack, some friends, and hang out on front campus. There’s always something going on on front campus. The front campus of Georgia College is beautiful, and it’s a great place to waste some time, hang out with friends, play Frisbee, find dogs to pet, or have a picnic.
I mean, that could be on front campus and you might never know… You need that beach towel to set up camp!
So, listen to some great music, drink lots of coffee, and show those early morning classes who’s boss! Have snacks and picnic blankets on hand for impromptu front campus picnics and shindigs. Stay organized and rock this semester, Bobcats! All in all, #bobcatsontop, as always.
