Greetings Spelman family!
I hope you are doing well and have enjoyed a productive summer. I am Ariana “Ari” Brazier, a senior English major from Bessemer, Alabama and your Miss Spelman College 2015-2016. I would like to take a moment and extend my sincere appreciation for all of your kind and supportive words via social media and/or in-person encounters.
In an effort to extend your spirit of kindness and enthusiasm, I am requesting your support in implementing my platform, Project H.O.M.E. (Helping Others Maintain an Existence), as Miss SpelmanCollege. Project H.O.M.E. is focused on destigmatizing and addressing the human and civil rights issue of homelessness. Throughout New Student Orientation Week I will be collecting: • Unused/unopened toiletry donations; • Business attire (in all sizes; used, but in good condition); • Used suitcases & luggage bags that are no longer needed (but in decent condition) Each item will be used to address the different needs of our community’s homeless. Additionally, I am encouraging diversified engagement in the movement to end homelessness by asking that each of you discover your individual place in the fight against the social and structural factors that negatively impact our communities.
Please, do not hesitate to contact me via email at abrazier@scmail.spelman.edu with any questions, concerns, suggestions or comments.
Thank you in advance for your support!
