5 Things To Do a Rainy Summer Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

Trying to find something to do on a rainy day can be quite the challenge since most summer activities require the sun, but there are many options for fun things to do alone or with friends!

1) Home Theater (or movie theater)

Get a bunch of your closest friends together and pick out a few of your favorite flicks! Hit the couch with some comfy pillows and blankets and some junk food and enjoy!

2) Read a Book

You know that book you’ve been wanting to read forever, but the opportunity never came or you were always distracted? Rainy days are the perfect opportunity to curl up with a good novel and immerse yourself in your imagination.

3) Go to the Mall

There is no better day for a one stop shopping excursion than a wet, rainy day! Splurge on some new clothes or that bag you’ve been craving. If you’ve saved for a rainy day, it’s time to treat yourself. Bring a few friends or a sister if you’re feeling social!

4) Have a Game Night with Friends

Crack open some Monopoly or get a card game going with friends! If you’re looking for something to do until the sun comes out, chances are your buddies are too. Why sit alone and be bored when you can get together and have a friendly, competitive game night?

5) Go to the Gym or Workout at Home

When it’s wet and cold outside, why not use the time productively? If you’ve been struggling to gain motivation to work out, there is no better time to put some music on and start a routine than now. Another fun option is to look for work outs that go according to shows or movies. Each time a character does a certain action, do 5 push-ups, etc. Get some friends together to make it a more fun and social day.

The next time it rains and you can’t think of anything to do, try one of these activities to get started on a productive day!
