When you hear “Restaurant Week” do you automatically start salivating? Thinking of your favorite place? Feel that rush of excitement for reasonably priced dining? Seriously, what’s not to love? Affordable dinner, an excuse to go out, and the opportunity to try something new is our idea of fun! While Restaurant Week may be further away, University City Dining Days is just around the corner!
University City Dining Days runs from July 16th to July 26th and features many different restaurants throughout University City. The restaurants’ employees have structured their prefixed menus, which look absolutely delicious, and are ready to take your reservation. With “3 courses, 3 prices” there are restaurants with food inspired by countries all over the world at the perfect price. The restaurants’ three-course fixed menus range in price, but are totally budget friendly. There are $15, $25, $35 menus to suit almost any college budget. Here are some noteworthy deals to keep in mind (just to name a few):
For $15
Pattaya Thai Cuisine is offering some of their best options with spring rolls as an appetizer, mango tilapia as an entrée, and coconut ice cream for dessert. This is the perfect dinner to put your taste buds in the mood for summer! Some of our favorite restaurants are also on board for the three-course meal for $15 including Sláinte Pub & Grill, New Deck Tavern, and Hai Street Kitchen & Co.
For $25
One of my personal favorites on this list is Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House. They offer a welcome environment with awesome seafood and a fantastic drink selection. Also, right down the street is Baby Blues BBQ. Just walking by Baby Blues BBQ will make your mouth water. Another option is Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar. Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar offers fresh menu items and is conveniently located next to the movie theater on Penn’s campus—a great (and affordable) opportunity for dinner and a movie!
For $35
While this list has only a few restaurant options, that doesn’t mean you should pass them up! Pod is offering a superb menu this year. If you have never been to Pod, here is your chance to see the unique environment and try some quality food! Additionally, City Tap House and White Dog Cafe are two sensational places to try; they provide a delightfully unusual spin on seafood by giving it a classic American twist. In the mood for some Mexican food that is full of flavor? Look no further than Distrito!
University City Dining Days is an amazing opportunity to get out and enjoy some awesome eats at an affordable price. Many places now have outdoor seating for you to bask in the gorgeous summer weather. University City Dining Days is just one of many cool ways to explore Philly, so don’t miss out!
