Finals week is finally here! With only a few days left before the biggest exams of the year, the library will be packed with students studying for finals. Will you be one of them? If so, eating healthy foods that also work to boost your brain is a must. Here are 10 healthy and delicious foods to stick to this week!
1. Raw Almonds: they have a large amount of vitamin E which may help to reduce cognitive decline and enhance memory.
Â
2. Dark Chocolate: considered healthy because of its high antioxidant content; the darker the chocolate, the better. Chocolate also has caffeine, which stimulates the brain increasing alertness and focus and helps with blood flow.
3. Apples: have lots of antioxidants and fiber. Antioxidants help with memory while fiber helps to keep us fuller longer!
4. Avocados: high in omega-3 fatty acids which help to maintain cognitive function.
5. Blueberries: are also rich in antioxidants!
Â
6. Coffee: After pulling an all-nighter coffee can do more than just get you through the day. It contains antioxidants and caffeine which help with alertness and boost your memory!
7. Sweet potatoes: are full of fiber and vitamin A. Vitamin A helps to boost your immune system, because the last thing you need around finals time is a cold!
8. Olive Oil: high in antioxidants (again, for memory!) and monounsaturated fats. Bonus: it helps protect against heart disease!
9. Eggs: are full of protein and they contribute to overall physical and mental health!
10. Salmon: is filled with brain-boosting omega-3s that help with memory and overall brain function! Experts recommend two servings of fish per week.
While it’s important to maintain a healthy diet all of the time, during finals this can be helpful in more ways than ever! If you’re going to be spending hours in Club Copley over the next few days, make sure you take breaks for some brain food! Eating these snacks well get you through this week and maybe even help you do better on your exams.Â
