Especially with our Her Campus Summer Survival Kits!
1. No more classes! I know you told your parents that Econometrics lecture was “actually really interesting,” but let’s be honest, we’re all relieved now that classes are over. Now, besides the time you actually spend taking your exams, you now have entire free days to partition as you please! You can sleep until noon, spend 8+ hours studying, and still have some down time in the evening to catch up on Game of Thrones (or keep studying; you’re probably more responsible than I am).
2. All that free time is great for your workout regimen. Go for a jog in the sun, take a yoga class to unwind between study sessions, or check out Crunch Live for a whole variety of fun and challenging workouts that you can do without leaving your dorm room. We’re definitely going to be taking advantage of our free trials! Touted by The Real Talk Show as “one of America’s most innovative online gyms,” Crunch Live lets you work out from wherever you see fit — which means even if you don’t make time to work in that ab workout until after school lets out, you won’t be able to blame your lack of college gym facilities ;)
3. Speaking of jogging in the sun, it’s finally warm! For the most part. At the very least, you can go outside sans jacket without wanting to cry. Flip flops, Norts, and all things pastel are fair game again and the world is a happier place. We’d be lying if we said we weren’t taking occasional online shopping study breaks at boohoo.com (which, by the way, has grown from the UK’s best kept secret to one of the fastest growing international e-tailers) to stock up on summer clothes.
We’re also loving Blink Tattoos as of late — they’re the perfect way to add something extra to your style this summer. (Pssst, use promo code HERCAMPUSVIP to save 15%. Expires 5/15.)
4. Finals are basically a free pass to treat yo self. Get that guac on your Chipotle burrito or bowl this week. You’re worth it. I know I’ll be using all of my Chipotle buy-one/get-one coupons to treat myself this week…
5. You now have time to finally check out Her Campus’ new book at the COOP. You’re going to have to stop by to return your rental textbooks anyway, so stop by and grab a copy for your new sorority little, your hometown besties, and any soon-to-be high school graduates. The Her Campus Guide to College Life covers everything you need to know to rock from how to get along with your roommates to how to avoid the ‘freshman 15’, deal with tough professors, snag internships, decide whether to study abroad, and much, much more.
6. Speaking of books, our new favorite at HC Harvard is RICH BITCH: A Simple 12-Step Plan for Getting Your Financial Life Together… by Nicole Lapin. We’re sure you can relate to scrimping and saving for your summer, whether you’re taking a job our going on an expensive summer abroad. Instead of nickel-and-diming yourself, Lapin’s advice focuses on investing in yourself so you don’t have to stress over the little things. But, in order to do that you have to be able to speak the language of money. After all, money is a language like anything else, and the sooner you can join the conversation, the sooner you can live the life you want.
7. This summer, you can spend a little time working on your entrepreunerial game. Chloe + Isabel is a fashion jewelry brand devoted to empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs through social retail. The c+i GEM program sets up entrepreneurial college students for career success by offering marketable, real-world experience – a meaningful opportunity to build both your resume and your bank account.
How are you spending your free time this reading period, collegiettes? We’d love to hear from you!
