As another spring semester comes to a close and Portland weather starts to become a little less precarious (Seriously, Portland. Can we have just a few more days of sunshine?) the only thing on our minds is summer!
For some of us, this means a long-awaited trip back home, catching up with old friends and reliving our high school glory days. For others, (me included!) it means embarking on a journey into adulthood as we walk across that graduation stage.
Regardless of whether you’re a freshman returning home for your first college summer break, a junior beginning an exciting summer internship or a senior preparing to say goodbye to UP for now, here are 5 easy ways to make your summer one to remember.
Recommit to Your New Year’s Resolutions.
Oh, yes. Remember those New Year’s resolutions you committed to way back when? As we reach the 6-month mark in June, take a moment to revisit your resolutions. What have you accomplished? What could use some work?
As you revisit your resolutions, think about why you may have committed to them in the first place. For those extra tricky resolutions, perhaps consider breaking down the resolution into baby steps to make them easier to tackle. For instance, instead of “Eat healthier,” try “Cut out processed foods and reduce sugar intake.”
Take Some YOU Time.
There is nothing more important than taking a moment to rest and recharge, by yourself. Paint your nails, take a nap, or dig into that “fun” book you’ve been dying to read.
Clean Out Your Closet.
Am I the only one who didn’t have a chance to spring clean my closet this year? Take advantage of the summer time off to clean through your closet. If you haven’t worn something in the last year, consider donating it or host a clothing swap with your friends.
The best part about ditching your old clothes? Making room for new ones! Check out boohoo for some stellar deals, perfect for a college student’s budget.
Splurge on Things That Make you Happy.
Now is the time to buy that cute bag you’ve been saving up for or the professional manicure you’ve always wanted. You deserve it!
Her Campus made it easy on us this summer, providing us with an awesome Summer Survival Kit (including Chipotle BOGO cards, Rich Bitch by Nicole Lapin and a free month of workouts, courtesy of Crunch Live!). Thanks to our sponsors for making this #HCSurvivalKit a great one!
