With finals and formals coming up, April has been pretty overwhelming so far. This month is full of stress for everyone, and even though you may be buried in homework, it’s important to take a little time for yourself to relax and make small steps toward feeling like your responsibilities are under control.  There are a few easy things you can do to try and make April a little less stressful.
Call your mom
A 10-minute conversation with your mom can help a lot.  She’s one of the people who know you the best and she can offer some seriously great advice.  Having probably been through most of the same things, she can help you take a step back and look at the bigger picture.
Meditate
YouTube offers a ton of guided meditation videos to help relieve stress and clear your mind. You can find videos for anything from getting rid of negativity to easing anxiety. Try finding a quiet, empty place for listening to a meditation video and let your mind wander to more peaceful thoughts.
Get organized
Whether it’s by cleaning your dorm room or making a study binder, getting a little more organized will not only ease your mind now, but also save you some time in the future.  A clean environment is key to feeling like you’re in control, and clearing your room will help you clear your mind too. Take an hour out of your day to put things back where they belong, schedule your week, or organize your class notes. Once you’ve categorized and scheduled some things you’ll be able to relax.
Write it down
This can be anything from writing a journal entry to creating a schedule for the next few weeks. Anything that helps you organize your thoughts will take away some stress.  If you’re more artistically inclined, write a poem, some song lyrics, or a Her Campus story! (Just kidding!) But it has been proven that writing releases stress, so close out of your term paper (don’t forget to save!) and pick up a pencil.Â
