Summer is approaching more quickly than we think, so it’s time to start planning now. Pretty soon we’ll be packing KSL to study for finals, and soon after, we’ll be heading off to our various summer spots for jobs, internships, vacation, or just to visit family and friends. Here are five suggestions to spice up your summer to-do list.
1.      Attend a summer music festival
You have a variety to choose from: The Free Press Summer Fest in Houston, Governor’s Ball in NYC, Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN, Warped Tour, Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Lollapalooza in Chicago, and more!
2.      Spend a weekend camping with friends
Put your phone away for just a few days and venture into the wilderness with some of your closest friends. Live off the land for a weekend – not only will you take the time to appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds you, you’ll probably also become a lot closer with your friends as you make memories together without the distraction of social media.
3.      Explore your own hometown
Sure, you’ve lived there for as long as you can remember, but your hometown is probably a lot different from the way you perceived it in high school. Spend some time re-doing some of the things you did when you were younger, and make the effort to re-discover the place where you grew up. Who knows, maybe you’ll find something you never knew existed.
4.      Have a picnic
All you need is a warm, grassy spot, a blanket, some friends, and some of your favorite recipes.
5.      Pick up a new hobby
Here are some ideas: yoga, running, crafting, gardening, volunteering, or blogging.
Happy (almost) summer, Spartans!
