It’s the greatest time of the year—spring has finally sprung in NOLA, finals aren’t yet upon us, and the humidity is right back where it belongs. There are only a few weeks left of the semester and that means one thing: it’s Crawfest time! Here are 5 reasons why it’s the greatest day of the semester.
1. Food, food, foodFor a Baltimore girl like me, seafood is the name of the game and there’s plenty of it at Crawfest. For some it’s their first chance at eating crawfish and there’s no better place to learn than on the LBC quad. If you aren’t into seafood though, no worries; there are plenty of other vendors serving up all kinds of different food.
2. MusicAnd not just any kind of music, but the kind of music you can listen to while barefoot in the grass (which is the best kind of music if you ask me). The Crawfest Krewe really goes above and beyond when it comes to the lineup and this year is no different.
3. The peopleYeah it’s anyone and everyone from the New Orleans community, but it’s also all your closest friends at Tulane just hanging out and enjoying what it means to go to school in the greatest city around.
4. The weatherThis reason is funny because rain or shine, Crawfest is still tons of fun. Regardless of whether the sun is shining or it’s drizzling over the Big Easy—there is tons of stuff to do and see. But that’s the way it goes in this city, the weather is part of almost everything we do and Crawfest is no different.
5. The atmospherePair the previous reasons together and you’ve got an atmosphere full of good vibes and good music that is hard to replicate. It’s our last chance to chill out and remember how awesome it is to be living New Orleans and going to Tulane—before the stress of finals that is.
