There are hundreds of art students at Temple University but there is one that manages to stick out. Hanah Jang, 18, who is one of the many art students of Tyler School of Art, shows her talents exceptionally through computer art.
“I am really drawn to computer art… It comes easier to me and it’s really exciting to see your artwork come to life on a screen,” said Jang.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Jang has plenty of talents in addition to animation. Jang also paints, builds, draws and sculpts remarkable artwork. Jang’s artistic talent developed at a young afe. Although she never took classes to practice her art, she was always good at what she does. Jang has had her art exhibited in various venues, including libraries for art exhibits in Boston.
“I never took classes in high school or anything, let alone thought about making a career out of it. One day when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to major in and I just thought ‘hey, I’m not too bad at art and I like it a lot, let’s give it a shot.’ So here I am today,” Jang shares.
Planning for the future, Jang dreams of working for Disney or Pixar as an animator. She describes the feeling art gives her as fluctuating. She explains that there is no exact way to describe the feeling she gets while doing what she loves . She explains that it can be the greatest feeling in the world, but it also has the potential to make you feel awful about yourself because of the pressure you feel to be the best you can be. Although the feelings fluctuate, Jang says, “these range of emotions is what makes art great.”
Jang realized she wanted to be an art major during the summer before her senior year and will hopefully stick with it to get where she dreams to be.
“I love art because it lets me freely express my mind with pretty much no boundaries, which I don’t think many other people in other majors can say. Oddly enough, it’s one of the few things that keeps me grounded and somewhat sane,” Jang says.
