There are a few reasons why I like Instagram; it’s a fun and easy place to share your own photos and see your friends’ photos. However, one of the best things about Instagram is the abundance of food blogs. From @feedyoursoull and @foodnoms to @new_fork_city and @foodintheair, pictures of ice cream and cookies to ramen burgers and mac and cheese promise to brighten your day and put a smile on your face for the following reasons.
They make you happier in general
It seems pretty obvious that food makes people happy (happy people just don’t shoot their husbands). When I scroll up and down the pages of endless yumminess, my happiness level instantly increases exponentially. Had a tricky exam or fight with a friend? Check out one of the many food blogs and allow them to work their de-stressing and mood-lifting magic. It is hard to explain exactly why looking at images of delectable goodies has such an effect, but trust me on this one- log onto your Insta and let it happen.
They give you cooking and baking ideas
Tired of eating the same thing over and over again? Check out the hundreds of food blogs that provide tons of fun ideas on a scale from easy to complicated! With the summer approaching you’ll have plenty of time to #treatyoself so, cultivate those skills and get to work.
They are a great method of procrastination
Who doesn’t love a good new form of procrastination to avoid that English paper or Political Science reading? In the middle of your work, take a quick break and feast (literally) your eyes on jumbo cookie sandwiches or blueberry pancakes for some guilt-free indulging. I have personally sat in a cubby in Dinand, taken a quick gander at a food blog to reboot my overworked brain, and felt energized and refreshed to hit the books again!
They help you work up an appetite
About to go to Kimball for brunch or hit Crossroads for dinner? Pregame your meal with a little preview of the kind of things that are about to come your way. You may not necessarily be having a gourmet meal, but scouring food blogs will definitely amp up your hunger and get you excited to take on the Holy Cross food options.
