With summer quickly approaching, many of us are thinking about where we want to vacation and where we want to visit during the summer months. Here are a few suggestions to add to your list, both national and international!Â
International
1. Andorra
Andorra is a tiny country inbetween Spain and France. Covering only 180 square miles, it can feel rather small. This lovely country is nestled into the mountains. Its location makes this a great destination to ski, hike, and bike. They may be tiny, but they have a lot to offer.Â
2. Santa Cesarea Terme, Italy
This small town on the Puglia Coast holds rocky out crops instead of beaches that create gorgeous grottos. The town is rarely visited by foregin tourists but is growing slowly. The moorish architecture, and beautiful Adreatic Sea make this a must on your next trip to Italy.Â
3. Kamchatka, Russia
Kamchatka is know for its outstanding natural beauty, untuched by people. Until the 1990s the Russian government did not allow those outside of the soviet navy to acess this area. Because of the limited access nature has flourished in this volcanic area. Kamchatka has one of the greates concentrations of the brown bear. They also have artic fox, lynx, wolverine, and reindeer that call this land home. Many tourists kayak in the volcanic lakes to observe nature.Â
4. Bariloche, ArgentiaÂ
Bariloche is located near several glaciers and the Andes mountin range. It is home to some of the best skiing in South America. As a bonus, if you wish to ski, the South American winter is in the North American summer. There is also a city, when you don’t wish to be on the mountins there is a large city with plenty to do.
5. Macau, China
Macau is a booming city, with gambling, bungy-jumping, and industry. If you leave the city however, you get white sand beeaches and plenty of sun.Â
In the U.S.
1. Fishcreek, Wisconson
Fishcreek is locatted in the Green Bay of Lake Michigan. It has pleanty of smooth pebble beaches and outdoor activities for the summer months. It has a wonderful small town atmosphere and can make anyone feel at home.Â
2. The Hill County of Texas
Texas is not widely know for its flora and fawna, but this area of the state could change anyone’s mind. The beautiful bluebonnets bloom in the spring and continue into the start of summer. There is also hiking, searching for topaz (if you don’t mind digging in the dirt), and experiencing the medina river.Â
3. Orcas Island, Washington State
Orcas Island is a small island toen accesible only by ferry boat out of the Seattle area. The town has beautiful little shops and even bakeries and resturants. They are most well know for whale watching. there are a few pods who call this cluster of islands home, and they are so fun to watch.Â
4. Seaside, Florida
Seaside Florida is the picture perfect beach town, from the pastel houses to the white picket fences. Located in the panhandle, this town is most well known for it’s pristine beaches and its apperance in the movie The Truman Show.
5. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
Coeur d’Alene is the city by the lake. This area of the world holds great opportunities for hiking, skiing, and so much more. Coeur d’Alene has the added bonus of being by a beautiful lake where you can participate in water sports, and even a triathalon.Â
