A College Girls Guide to the “Sprinter” Wear

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

IT’S FINALLY HERE COLLEGIETTES! After a long harsh winter spring is upon us and with these last remaining days faltering between warm and cold one may have a hard time figuring out what to wear. While you may feel eager to bust out the shorts and tee shirts, it may not entirely be appropriate to pack up those long sleeves yet. The time between Winter and Spring, or “Sprinter” as I like to call it, is one that is often mishandled by an eagerness to put on a maxi dress while there’s still melting snow on the the ground.  Luckily this handy transition guide may be able to help!

Living in the North East (ESPECIALLY the Albany area), it may seem like the warm summery air you’ve dreamed of at noon, but by the time 5 o’clock rolls around it’s freezing.

To start, always make sure you have a cute cardigan or other light sweaters on hand for these annoying but frequent occurrences. My favorite pick for those awful fake-out “Sprinter” days is the “Classic Cardi” from Forever 21. They’re Perfect for layering over dresses or tee shirts and they come in every color. (P.S. At $8.90 you could literally get one IN EVERY COLOR)

If you want to wear it with shorts pair the cardi with some tights and a scarf for a great cross-season look!

Did those tall brown boots keep you warm in the winter? Why not transition them into something a bit more “Springy” with a cute denim top and a pencil skirt. Not only can this outfit help you to easily swap winter for spring, but the transition from work/ school to a night out is seamless as well!

Your favorite bandeau may be ready to go, but it’s not exactly time to throw it on with some shorts and head for the beach.

Instead you can still incorporate it into your wardrobe with more “Wintery” Items like knee socks!

Not ready to put the booties away? That’s ok! You can wear them with a flannel and that crop top any day until the sun starts to shine a little brighter!

I have always been a fan of the “in-between seasons” Fall and Spring! Many things that you wore back when the leaves were falling may come in handy when the flowers start popping up again. If you’re looking to get rid of a few things and online shop at the same time, check sites like Vinted and Poshmark! They allow you to sell lightly used old clothes and buy some new ones!

Happy Spring Her Campus!
