What year are you?
2016
Where are you from?
Brooklyn, NY
What is your major?
English
Where are you studying abroad this year?
Bologna, Italy and London!
What has been your favorite place you’ve traveled to so far?
Aside from Bologna, where I was living, I would have to say Prague. But I’m going to Majorca in a few weeks and am super pumped about that.
Why did you decide to go abroad for the year?
I wanted to be able to explore the world. I also knew that both experiences would be entirely different ones. I ended up perfecting my Italian and learning how to cook in Bologna, and now I’m studying English at a giant university and learning how to be a real person in a big city by living by myself in an apartment.
Back at Colby, what are you involved in on campus?
I used to be a CA last year and I’ve been working for InsideColby as a videographer and social media correspondent since Freshman year. I also sing in the Jazz Band on campus.
What’s the thing you’re most excited about for Senior year?
Living off-campus in a house, being reunited with my friends and being a COOT leader!!
What’s the biggest difference between living at Colby/in America and living abroad?
The professors at Colby are the best in the world. They are super smart and awesome and care so much about you. You really realize that when you’re sitting in a class with 100 people and the prof doesn’t know you’re name. What I will miss about Europe is the ability to travel to so many countries for around 40 bucks and in only an hour… It’s so easy to explore!
Favorite candy?
York Peppermint Patties
Flats or heels?
Heels – always been a boot person.
Favorite musician/artist/group?
The Shins, Radiohead, New Order and Flight Facilities
Favorite dining hall at Colby?
Foss!
Any advice for people thinking about studying abroad?
Do everything! It’s easy to get homesick and want to stay in, but it is so worth it to just go out of your comfort zone and try new experiences. Go on as many adventures as possible.
