Need a good workout? Or need to clear your head? Maybe you just want to leave campus and spend some time outdoors. Here are some ways to be fit, fun and healthy!
Of course first of all, the go to workout spot on campus is the WoodPEC. There are plenty of options here, including countless machines like treadmills, ellipticals and bikes and also various weight machines. In addition, classes are offered, like spinning, yoga, zumba and various other strengthening / dance courses. If you are into running, check out the indoor track or if you prefer the water, hit the gorgeous Olympic sized pool. Also, you can’t miss the climbing wall or even the tennis and basketball courts.
With all this being said, if you want to be a little more adventurous there are definitely some other options.
Like the outdoors? Well, first tip is to hit up Lullwater Park, right on Clifton Road. With beautiful trails and a scenic lake, this park is the perfect place for a long walk, a fast paced run or even a bike ride.
Secondly, if you are feeling up for a challenge, I’d recommend Stone Mountain Park. Here, trails pave the path for hikes that lead to an amazing view.
If you aren’t so outdoorsy, don’t worry. There are still plenty of options. Maybe spinning is your thing and you want to venture off campus? Both FlyWheel and Cyc Fitness offer classes that are great. FlyWheel which is located in Buckhead, offers classic indoor cycling rides, as well as our body sculpting FlyBarre classes. Cyc Fitness is also in Buckhead and their classes often feature the use of weights as well.
But wait, there are even more options. Orangetheory in Emory Point offers training sessions composed of treadmill interval training blocks, indoor rowing and weight room or resistance training blocks. Orangetheory works to monitor heart rates and calories burned during your workout.
If this all wasn’t enough, Pink Barre and Pure Barre are some other great outlets for a good workout. These places offer classes that grant a total body workout, often combining pilates, isometric strengthening, ballet, and yoga while using the ballet barre for support. If you are looking for toned thighs, abs, arms and quick fat burn, these are the places to go! Pink Barre is located in Emory Point and Pure Barre is located in the Toco Hills Shopping Center.
And last but not least, another option is X3 Sports, which offers yoga, kickboxing, boxing and even agility workouts. It also has its own gym if that wasn’t enough! Plus, an additional plus is that it is right next to Kale Me Crazy. So, that’s a little motivation for you to get a great workout in.
After reading all of this, I hope that you have some more motivation and a good sense of where you want your next work out to be. Get ready, get set, go!
