“If you just opened this like I told you to, tie yourself down to whatever chair you’re sitting in, because this email is going to be a rough f*cking ride”
I was intrigued to read this book because of all the press a sorority had gotten after one of the members sent an insane email to all of the girls in her house (the start of that email is also in the prologue of the book). While the email itself was absolutely terrifying, it made me wonder what it would be like to have a sister like that in my house. After reading this book I can officially say that it would be hell. Thankfully, I don’t know of any sororities that have people like the girl who wrote that email.
With an opening line like that, you know the book is going to be spectacular. After reading Dirty Rush I wasn’t sure if I wanted to steer as clear as possible from all sororities or join one right away. Fortunately enough, I am currently in the beginning stages of joining a sorority, and I now know that this book is merely a work of fiction. Reading this novel was still highly enjoyable though, with an interesting and lovable main character, Taylor Bell, and I read the entire book in one sitting.
Dirty Rush gives humorous insights on the life of the cliché sorority girl, and I would be lying if I said that there weren’t times when I had to stop reading and say, “wait what just happened?” The book details the recruitment of the main character, Taylor, to Beta Zeta, and from there the story goes all sorts of ways. You get to see into her love life and her normal struggles of being a college freshman. Not to mention the absolutely fabulous times with her new sisters, and I’ll admit that reading this book kind of made me love the idea of sorority life (minus the crazy sisters). Being a part of greek life sounded awesome because you automatically have a house full of people who are there for you! We all know it can be a little crazy sometimes going through college and trying to find a place where you belong.
If you’re in a sorority or if you want to be, or even if you aren’t a part of greek life at all, you’ll relate to this book. It’s a hilarious and light read, perfectly in time for Spring Break. You’ll be laughing the entire time reading Dirty Rush.
