So here it is, you’re on your own for the first time, you have your own place, but the transition has yet to sink in. How do you know when your new place is home? Here are some helpful checkpoints from transfer students like myself.
When You Spill Something
It’s a matter of time before you’re mindlessly browsing the Internet when Bam! That water bottle cannot be shaken up without a lid on it.
You Cuss Out Loud
Some of us just keep it in our heads, but it goes out the window when you feel at home in your new space.
You Sing While Doing Stuff
“Try to leave a light on when I’m gone…” (David Cook). But really, who likes coming back to a dark apartment?
You Buy Something New for your Place
Seriously, who needs all these candles?! Who’s gonna be here to enjoy those salt and pepper shakers shaped like turkeys? We aren’t even here for Thanksgiving! :0
Look who brought back another candle! (featuring Missglamorazzi in picture below)
You Can ‘comfortably’ Take a Poo
It’s sad but true. You don’t know how many people I’ve heard this from.
You Pick Your First Booger
Everyone does it. Where you put yours is your business, okay? Don’t be gross.
You always put back the _______. It’s in the drawer with the _______.
For me, it’s scissors. You know how it is: the utensils go in the right drawer, that book goes on top of the 2nd shelf, your headphones are on your bedside table….etc. You’ll keep it up for about a month.
You have your chair/ your spot at the table.
We’re creatures of habit don’t you know?
When you leave, you tell your parents you’re going “Home”.
To which they respond, “Which one? You mean college?”
