Pinterest is buzzing with hair and makeup tutorials to achieve the perfect Valentine’s Day look. After a long date with Pinterest, I found these particular styles to be fun, flirty, and noteworthy for Valentine’s Day collegiates.
1. I love this whole look! Smokey, bold eyes with soft pink lips. For the smokey eye look, try a palette like the NYX ‘Smokey Eye’ eye shadow palette ($7).
How-to: Line the top and bottom eyelids with a black eyeliner, and add soft blush and a light pink lip color to complete the look. Her hair is also great for a romantic Valentine’s day date. To achieve this look, sweep your hair into a neat, slightly undone bun and pull out pieces of hair to frame your face for softness.
2. This Victoria’s Secret Angel look is the perfect example of how to properly wear red lipstick. First of all, if you’re playing up your lips, go light on the eye makeup and stick to neutral colors. Make sure to match the red to your skin tone with this guide.
How-to: To prepare lips for the perfect lip color, apply an exfoliating lip scrub. My favorite is the lip microdermabrasion paste from Rodan + Fields.
Next, fill your lips with liner before adding lipstick for a longer-lasting look, followed by a great red lipstick. My last tip is to avoid the classic red-toothed smile by checking your teeth in the mirror after application.
3. Put a bow on it! This hairstyle is simple and very pretty!
How-to: Create loose waves, tease the crown of your head, then secure hair with a clear elastic, and finish by tying a ribbon around the elastic. I like the black ribbon in this photo, but you can swap black for any color to suit your outfit.
4. I am completely in love with this sweet heart bun hairstyle. It’s not too young, it’s wearable for anyone, and it is super cute for a Valentine’s Day date.
How-to: Simply follow these 7 steps!
You need: bobby pins, 2 small pony elastics, a comb
Start by adding slight waves to your hair with a curling wand. This Bedhead iron from Target is under $30!
1. Next, put your hair half up, and separate it into 2 side-by-side ponytails with small elastics.
2. Twist the right ponytail downward, and slide a bobby pin into the base near the elastic to keep it anchored.
3. Wrap the ponytail up and over 4 times to create the top of the heart. Keep twirling in the same direction.
4. Add bobby pins to these 3 places.
5. Repeat on the other side and add a bobby pin at the bottom of the heart for more security.
Tada! Gorgeous hair complete.
