Meet Allie Lustig, a Computer Engineering junior who’s just as comfortable in front of a monitor as she is at a sorority semi-formal. Beautiful, driven and absolutely hilarious, Lustig shows us that it really is possible to have it all.

Tell us about yourself! How did you end up choosing computer science as your major?
I chose my major because I am passionate about technology. I love that my major teaches students about computer hardware and software, providing a well-rounded knowledge about computers and many other electronic devices.
That’s awesome. Where can we find you on campus when you aren’t in class?
I’ve been an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta since Fall 2012, and I’m the Co-Vice President of WISH (Women Involved in Software and Hardware), which is a club that provides support for women in computing fields through career networking opportunities, study sessions and social events with an aim to rectify the gender gap in computing majors.
Were you able to land any cool jobs or internships with the skills you learned from WISH?
Last summer I interned for a company in downtown San Francisco called Neustar, a rising star in digital marketing analytics. I helped the quality assurance engineering team test Neustar’s website. This summer, I am looking forward to interning at Apple as a software engineering intern in Cupertino.
That’s so exciting! We’re sure you don’t have a lot of it, but what do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy shopping, exploring new restaurants and sleeping.
Clothes, food and naps? We can definitely sympathize. What’s your favorite part about living in San Luis Obispo?
Definitely the weather – I’m from Seattle, and it still shocks me that it’s 75 degrees here every day!
One last question – What’s one food you couldn’t live without?
Guac, hands down.
