What is Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year.
If you have never seen Parks and Recreation, every February 13th, Leslie Knope and her lady friends leave their husbands and boyfriends at home and just kick it breakfast style. You don’t have to be single to celebrate Galentine’s Day but it’s definitely a great way to spend your V-Day weekend with great friends. You can make it a girls night out with dinner and bar hopping on Main Street or you can order take out and Netflix your heart out. There is no wrong way to celebrate but check out our guide to making the most of your Galentine’s Day.
Gather your poeple. Tell your friends to keep Friday night open for festivities! Whether they’re single, in a relationship or not really sure, everyone is welcome but make sure they leave their romantic baggage at home. Come up with a game plan and divvy up responsibilities. If you decide to stay in, ask someone to bring the wine, another can grab your take out order on her way over and someone else can bring their stash of nail polish.
Dinner choice is crucial. You can’t just make ramen on Galentine’s Day. If you’re looking to get out of your dorm or apartment, check out Rose Marie’s or La Fontana but make sure to call for a reservation, like now. If you want to stay in, order a pizza, get take out or even do a little cooking! You can make it as casual or as fancy as you like, just make sure there’s enough for all your gals!
Choose your entertainment wisely. Since you’re celebrating Galentine’s Day, it’s only fitting that you include your BFF Netflix in your plans as well. Here are some of our recommendations: Silver Linings Playbook, Pretty in Pink, Safe Haven, Ever After, Dirty Dancing, One Day and Romeo and Juliet (the Leo and Claire version).
Speaking of movies… we hear there is a pretty big movie coming out on Friday. Grab some girlfriends, stuff your pockets with candy and watch Fifty Shades of Grey. Check out the Digiplex’s showtimes to plan your night!
Craft it up. Pinterest loves Valentine’s Day, even if you don’t, so take advantage of the thousands of crafts they feature to make something fun with your girls. Sometimes crafting can be expensive or you make something you’ll never use a day in your life. Make sure you and your friends check out some of these cute and functional craft ideas, like these mugs!
Whether you’re single and ready to mingle or in a loving relationship, Galentine’s Day needs to be your new favorite holiday. Seriously, what’s better than celebrating your awesome friends? So, use our guide and get planning!
