Rose Color Meanings

For hundreds of years, roses have been given and received as a sign of love, joy, and remembrance.  Therefore overtime, these roses have developed their own language with color. This Valentine’s Day, give the perfect colored bouquet to show exactly how you feel;  whether it’s for a special someone, a family member or even a friend. Each color rose has its own special significance that helps convey a message.  Here is a guide for rose colors and their meanings to get you started, and let the flowers speak for you!

 

 

Red Roses are known as the lover’s rose. A red rose is the ultimate symbol of romance and devotion. It is the most adorned way of saying ‘I love you.’ A classic Valentine’s Day favorite.

 

 

 

Dark Red Roses stand for awestruck beauty. Its unspoken message may carry as much pleasure as it does pain.

 

 

 

 

Orange Roses are known to be the wild child of the rose family.  These fiery blooms represent an intense attraction.  They reveal a craving and desire for the personwho receives them.  This rose brings out the enthusiastic and passionate side for a person.

 

 

 

Lavender Roses indicate love at first sight; these flowers are given to show feelings of charm and enchantment. Lavender roses are very rare and may express romantic feelings and intentions for that special someone.

 

 

 

Blue Roses symbolize unattainable or impossible love. A love so imaginative and mysterious. A blue rose can exemplify love as loving a monster, painful yet unexplainably wonderful.

 

 

 

White Roses evoke purity and innocence. The white rose sends a message of loyalty and says ‘I am worthy of you.’  White roses can be given to mothers as a sign ofrespect, but they are also very often used in weddings to insinuate young love.

 

 

 

Pink Roses signify grace, elegance and dignity. It can be given as a token of admiration and appreciation. They are often times sent at the beginning of a relationship to show excitement of a new beginning and a promise of a new love adventure.

 

 

 

Yellow Roses represent friendship. They are the best roses for sending out a warm and joyful message. These roses may be given to graduates as to say ‘congrats’ or to a sick loved one as a way of wishing the person to get well.

 

 

Peach Roses symbolize modesty. These roses so easily bring harmony and peace. Sending a bouquet of peach roses is the perfect way to say thank you.
