Dress Code for a cold Winter’s Night!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Ottawa chapter.

We all know that going out in the winter is frigid. You DO NOT want to be that girl stuck in a 45-minute line in a mini skirt and stiletto heels freezing your behind off. Consider investing in fleece lined tights, knee high socks or leggings that you can whip off once inside a bar or club. Just in case you are stuck in a rut and need some outfit inspiration, here are some sensible pairings for you!

The LBD

Obviously this is a classic go-to on a night out and is easier said than done in the winter. But, luckily, you have tights to wear underneath that can be tucked into knee high boots for extra warmth. Tall boots always make an outfit look put together.

Dressy Night Out

Maybe you plan to go for a dinner first and then go out on the town. You can dress up for both in one shot, which is amazing right? Some may feel like a skirt option is sleeker for a dinner date and a night out while others may strictly stick to pants. As long as you accessorize and pair them with appropriate boots, the look will be perfect!

With these outfits, you can switch out the heels for knee high boots or ankle booties. Being warm is the way to go because you still have a long night ahead of you!

House Party

You won’t need to keep your shoes on here so wear whatever your heart desires. Throw on a pair of comfy jeans or even leggings and pair it with a fancy top. Preferably a comfy, flowy top as you will be lounging around all night and maybe even sleeping in your outfit of the night-who knows?

Country Night

Well, we do live in Canada and the country scene is very much alive. So if you decide to go to a country-themed party, bar or club then your outfit has been decided. You have got to own a plaid shirt paired with denim and cowboy boots. But you know what? THAT IS SO CLICHÉ! So grab something plaid, pair it with leggings and knee high boots. Or tuck it into a skirt, throw on tights and a pair of boots. This is your time to shine so dress up the plaid however you want.

Dress up or keep it simple these cold winter nights out, but stay warm!
