Why did you choose JCU? Â
I chose JCU because of its reputation and internship options, and I wanted to be out of California.
Favorite thing about JCU?Â
The feeling of community.
What immersion trip did you go on?Â
I went on the New Orleans immersion trip.
What made you want to go on an immersion trip?Â
I love helping people and doing physical work as well as making a difference in a community.
What did you do there?Â
In New Orleans there were three projects we worked on, but the one I was involved with was painting a house and doing some minor repairs to the outside of it. But not only did we experience helping people, we also got to experience the culture and community of New Orleans.
How was your life impacted? Â
My life was impacted by the people that I met and the stories they told. The stories that I heard really humbled me. Hearing that the police system was corrupt really changed my view on things because I had no idea that things were really that bad.
