“Because Why Not?” is a public art display created by Stephanie Jones ’16Â for an Arts and Visual Culture class. Located in the Commons’ Fireplace Lounge, the piece is another example, along with the graffiti-covered racecar outside of Commons this morning, of the Bates administration’s renewed committment to respecting public art after a few unfortunate incidents earlier this year when displays were taken down. The bright pop of color from these balloon flowers was exactly what we needed to get through this long, COLD day of studying!Â
