5 Things to Thank Your Mom For

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Denison chapter.

Being at college is hard, especially with finals coming up and break just around the corner. During times like these, all I want to do is hug my mom and have her tell me everything is going to be okay. I appreciate my mom so much more while I’m away and reminding myself of all the things she does for me makes me love her so much more. So, here are 5 HUGE things that we should all thank our Mom’s for.

1) Taking care of us when we’re sick

We never understood how much our moms took care of us until we got to school. When we’re sick, we know our moms will be there to bring us soup and make sure we’re comfortable. It’s hard getting sick at school and having no one there to help wipe your nose and still love you unconditionally.

2) Doing Laundry

Who knew laundry could be such a hassle? Walking up and down flights of stairs with a heavy laundry basket is strenuous. And then having to fold all of the clothes? That’s a whole other story. Moms, we admire you for doing our laundry for so many years!

3) Being a Cheerleader

At school, it’s hard to find motivation to get everything done and usually when you do end up getting something big done, there isn’t always someone there to appreciate it. We can always count on our moms to be proud of everything we do and be our biggest fans.

4) Buying Things (Sometimes Pointless Things)

We can’t thank our mom enough for all the things she reluctantly bought us at the cash register of any given store, all the clothes and things we didn’t really need (but insisted we did). Growing up and understanding the value of a dollar really makes you reconsider just how much mom’s sacrifice.

5) Just Being There

Even if you think your whole world is falling apart, your mom will be there to pick up the pieces and patch you back together.

I'm a sophomore at Denison University from Boca Raton, Florida. I'm a psychology major and when I'm not studying, you can find me walking around campus trying to figure out what to do with this freezing Ohio weather, playing tennis with friends, or just looking for someone fun to talk to!
