Sharing her room with you this week is Rosie Ettinger! Rosie is a sophomore at Brandeis who was nominated for having an awesome room on campus. She was able to make her single room in Pom cute and spacious with various decorations and careful organization. In my interview with Rosie, I learned Rosie’s dorm room essentials, inspiration, and favorite shops for dorm room items.
Major: Psychology Â

Her Campus: Why did you design your room the way you did?
Rosie Ettinger: My favorite colors are pink and green so that’s why I decorated in those colors. Also, I love the Lily Pulitzer and Scout bins I have. These bins kind of built my room because I found them first and loved the design and colors. Once I got those I picked everything else in my room around that color scheme.
HC: What is your favorite item in your room?
RE: Definitely my American flag tapestry. It’s patriotic and a pretty decoration and it makes my room really vibrant.  I also love it because it’s between my bed and wall so I’m not sleeping against a blank wall.
HC: What is a dorm room essential for you?
RE: I would say definitely a lot of pillows on your bed so you’re very comfortable while you sleep and hang out with your friends. Also a lot of mugs and cups because they’re a fun decoration and are useful! Also advice for anyone in Pom: there are no fountains near by so it’s essential to have a lot of water bottles.
HC: What is the theme or vibe you would use to describe your room?
RE: I would say preppy and girly
HC: What’s your favorite place to shop for dorm room things?
RE: Dormafy.com they have amazing up to date room accessories and they categorize things really, really well. Also PB teen, even though I’m not a teen, it’s pretty essential and they monogram.
HC: What’s the most important thing in your room?
RE: The best part of my room is definitely my bed. My comforter is fluffy and big so it makes my bed look really homey and inviting. I think it’s really important that your room makes people want to stay, and it’s not just plain and boring. People should try to spice up their room in the best way they can.
HC: What is your style inspiration?
RE: Definitely Made Well and J Crew, I like their simplistic styles. I also really like Lily Pulitzer with their bold, bright colors like pink and green.
HC: What does your room say about you?
RE: I try to keep things cozy and homey and I love having people, and inviting people, into my room. With my fuzzy rug and beanbag it’s really easy for people to just come into my room and hangout and I love that. I think my room shows that I like to make people comfortable and also that I like to decorate and make my room pretty. I’m fairly organized and that’s clear because everything in my room has a place for the most part. I have bins in my room to organize stuff, but just because I like things really organized doesn’t mean I cant put my own flair on my storage equipment!Â
