This past weekend, Adelphi had it’s annual Family Weekend! As a part of this Family Weekend, Adelphi’s King and Queen are chosen and the various organizations compete in Clash of the Clubs! For those of you who don’t know, Clash of the Clubs is a weeklong competition that tests the clubs in everything from decorating doors and windows, to eating and baking (my favorite competition!). Steven Joseph, a senior at Adelphi and a member of the Clash of Clubs committee, shared his insight: “Clash of the Clubs was a fantastic event, and it was so exciting to see so many of Adelphi’s clubs and organizations participate! It was truly a time for many of our students to shine and get involved!”
The schedule for Clash of the Clubs was as follows:Friday October 10th – Kickoff!Monday October 13th – Baking and Eating CompetitionTuesday October 14th – Trivia NightWednesday October 15th – Scavenger HuntThursday October 16th – Door Decorating
Then finally on October 18th during the Family Weekend Carnival, the winners of Clash of the Clubs were announced!
In 4th – #FlawlessIn 3rd – Commuter Student OrganizationIn 2nd – C.A.L.I.B.E.R.And in 1st…. Habitat for Humanity!!!
While Clash of the Clubs was definitely a highlight of the Family Weekend Carnival, what everyone really wanted to know was who would be crowned Adelphi King and Queen! There were so many students who were absolutely worthy of winning the honor of being King and Queen. Of course, President Scott was the one to announce the winners. The first name called was Diego Martinez as Adelphi King! Shortly after his crowning, Lauren Jacobson was announced Adelphi Queen! About his win, Martinez says: “I am proud to be crowned Adelphi King as I see it as an opportunity to show others that getting involved will get you places. I hope to use this position to encourage and motivate others to look beyond the classroom and experience Adelphi for all that it has to offer.” Jacobson was also estatic about getting chosen, stating: “It’s an unbelievable honor to be your Adelphi Queen and have all the love and support from my Adelphi family!” There is no doubt that these two are both wonderful leaders, worthy of their titles.
All in all, Family Weekend was memorable and definitely something that the students on campus will continue to look forward to for years to come!
