6 Things To Do Over Fall Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

1) Spend time with your family:

Whether you’re homesick already or not, your family has missed you, and break is the ultimate opportunity to catch up on what’s been going on at home. Chances are you’ll have a million questions to answer from your parents and siblings, and they will want to know all about your school year so far! Take this time to hang out with them, and cherish the time to relax and catch up. Be sure to give your pets some love too!

2) Switch wardrobes:

Let’s face it, most of our closets are far too small to hold the entirety of our wardrobes. For this reason, it’s a great idea to bring home clothes that you won’t be wearing in the winter or fall, in order to make some space that is easily accessible on a daily basis. So, ditch the tank tops and a few pairs of shorts, and bring back those chunky sweaters and coats!

3) Get ahead on homework and essays:

How great of a feeling would it be to get back to school and not have to worry about out of class work for a week or so? I’m not saying you should spend every day doing school work, but getting a few assignments done is not a bad idea! It makes for a less stressful return to school!

4) Catch up with friends from home:

Everyone from high school has been going through a ton of changes and new experiences at their respective colleges. Chances are no one has had much time to discuss roommates and classes because they’ve been trying to adjust. Break is a great time to meet for coffee or lunch and talk about everything that has happened in the school year so far. Not to mention, there are just some things that only the people you’ve grown up with can understand.

5) Pick up a few shifts at work:

If you have a job back home, try to pick up some days to work! It can’t hurt to have some more cash for when you get back to campus. Maybe you’ll finally have enough to splurge on that cute sweatshirt from the campus bookstore.

6) Get up to speed on your favorite shows:

School work definitely takes a toll on our spare time. I know that for my friends and me, school causes us to miss episodes of our shows or takes away Netflix time. Fall break is a perfect opportunity to catch up on what has happened lately on American Horror Story or Once Upon a Time. Take advantage of it!
