This week’s featured organization is University of Tampa’s one and only television station UTTV. The student run outlet is revamping their program with a new logo and president. Her Campus sat down with the organizations new president, Miranda Palumbo, to talk about what the organization offers to UT students and evolution taking place this year.
HC: What does UTTV consist of?
MP: A variety of programming including news programs, a satirical news show, an episodic series, and arts and entertainment features. All of these shows entail pre-production–researching, story lines, and interviews; production–the actual shooting of the show–and post-production–editing and placement of graphics.
HC: Who should join UTTV?
MP: Anyone with a passion for television. You don’t have to be a communications major to join. If you like T.V. and news then you should do it.
HC: What are the plans for the future right now?
MP: Right now, we are working on building a strong foundation for future incomers while educating current members and producing programming.
HC: Why should you watch UTTV?
MP: It’s a great source to learn about things on or off campus, either for entertainment or information.
HC: Why do you enjoy UTTV?
MP: I have a passion for television and making shows. I like teaching people about it too.
HC: How could UTTV be used on resumes?
MP: UTTV is a great opportunity for student leadership, which looks great on a resume. It’s also a way for people who want to get involved and see what the college offers.
