5 Reasons to Visit Your Friends at Other Schools

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

I had the opportunity to visit the University of North Carolina over Fall Break, and after a weekend of exploring, I realized how much fun and informative visiting friends at other schools can be. Here are the top 5 reasons you should visit other schools if you have the chance!

1. Seeing another campus: Every school is different and even though I love the look and the size of Tulane, I am sitll amazed at how big and beautiful other campuses can be. Their historical buildings and structures are sometimes slightly more amazing then those random sculptures on the academic quad.

2. The food: Okay, I’m not even going to try to say other schools have better food than the amazing restaurants and food trucks that surround Tulane. But sometimes, it’s the little things that make the food at other schools a nice change. North Carolina has INSOMNIA COOKIES, need I say more!?

3. Make new friends: Even though you are probably already Facebook friends, and Instagram followers, it’s nice to put the names to faces when meeting your home friend’s school friends! Meeting people is always fun and when visiting another school, you have an entirely new set of people to talk to and compare college experiences.

4. SPORTS! Having Yulman has already made Tulane a fun and exciting place to be on gameday Saturdays, but we aren’t quite at the “big state school” experience. Being at a school where athletes are celebrities and people like Michael Jordan once ran up and down the courts, I sometimes wish we had that kind of rich history and spirit.

5. To remind you why Tulane is the best! Let’s face it, other schools are just too big, there is no Rum House or Satsuma, the friends we have here are the best, and though Tulane pride may not be seen on the court or the field, I think Mardi Gras just kind of beats it all. Visiting other friends can give you a whole host of new experiences, but the best one is the reminder that our school is the only one for us.    Â
