The models are on the fashion week runways, Pumpkin Spice Lattes have popped up in your local Starbucks and campus is bustling with students. Autumn is here and what better way to celebrate the coming of the season than by donning the latest catwalk inspired fashion and beauty looks.
Capes
Burberry Prorsumâs monogrammed âColour Block Blanket Ponchosâ have been spotted on the shoulders of everybody whoâs anybody this September, from Cara Delevingne to Sarah Jessica Parker. While we may not be able to afford the eye watering ÂŁ895 price tag (plus ÂŁ200 for the monogramming) there are plenty of ways to get the look for less. Capes and ponchos are excellent wardrobe staples to throw over summer pieces and make them last through the cooler weather (or indeed to cover last nightâs clothes, we wonât tell if you donât). New Look offers blanket wraps in a variety of colours and prints like the one below, starting from ÂŁ17.99.

Military
As it often does in Autumn/Winter, the military trend has rolled back around bringing with it shades of taupe, mustard and green. Balmain does it best with its army inspired utilitarian pieces but, if youâre not one to reach for the camouflage, thereâs subtler ways to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe. Try Topshop for emerald and army greens, such as this casual shirt (below), or New Look for a more feminine interpretation of the trend you can wear day in, day out.

Warm Textures
Fluffy and furry textures are on trend in a big way this autumn, and what better way to cosy up than in a (fake) fur-trimmed coat or a warm fuzzy jumper. Designers such as Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs sent head to toe knits down the runway, but if youâre not feeling quite as brave (or chilly) go for a single textured piece. Summerâs pastels are here to stay to pick up your fluffy new statement piece in lilacs, mints and pale pinks. Primark has a huge selection of fluffy jumpers, furry coats and gilets this autumn all for a bargain price, weâll race you!
Back to the 60’s
The sixties are back in the form of cute minis and retro detailing; designers from Louis Vuitton to Yves Saint Laurent had a retro revival this autumn. Try miniskirts, cute dresses, shiny high boots, boxy jackets and monochrome to get the look. This contrast collar dress from Dorothy Perkins is perfect for putting some swing into your style, add some colour block heels and a boxy bag to complete the outfit.
Lashes, lashes, lashes
Long, full fluttery lashes were all over the catwalk this autumn. An easy look to achieve, build up lashes either by adding multiple coats of your favourite mascara, alternating between two mascaras to build texture or reaching for your trusty falsies. Of course donât forget the most important tool, the eyelash curlers. Clamp lashes, hold for 20 seconds then pulse gently to glam up your look from day to night.
Bare Minimum
Bare minimum beauty was taken to another level by designers such as Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney and Proenza Schouler, runway models wore no makeup at all! So embrace the last of your summer tan (or the last of last nightâs makeup) and flaunt your bare faced cheek. Be sure to moisturise to prevent skin from drying out as the weather cools, a moisturiser with added sunscreen is always a must, no matter the weather.
