10 Fun Things To Do In Boston This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

We’re all starting to feel that “I think I might throw on a cardi over this t shirt…” chill in the mornings. It’s time to switch our morning coffees from iced to hot and watch the #BCfall hashtag slowly creeping into our insta-feeds. As sad as it is to say goodbye to summer, we’re lucky enough to be in one of the best cities to spend the autumn season in. Here are a few ideas to make the best of Boston as the leaves change!

1. Catch a Red Sox game before the season ends! Find resale tickets here and enjoy once last taste of summer with a day at the ballpark and a Fenway Frank!

2. Head over to the Museum of Fine Arts – it’s free for BC students! Be sure to check out their new exhibit on classic Hollywood glamour, it’s a great place to find inspiration for that extra sparkle in your fall wardrobe!

3. Get out of your comfort zone with a guided bike tour around Boston! Urban AdvenTours is offering a biking experience geared toward finding the best fall foliage in the area. Workout? Check. Fall insta? Double check!

4. Spend an afternoon studying for midterms in the cozy rooms of the Boston Public Library. It’s a beautiful building with tons of resources, and it’s a great way to get out of the monotony of midterm prep. Plus, it’s right off the Copley T stop… and it’s free!

5. Take a break from class on Friday October 17 and head over to O’Neill Plaza for BC Street! Presented by the Residence Hall Association, the afternoon will feature performances from BC dance and a cappella groups, Boston street performers, and free food from Boston vendors. What more could you want to start off a fall weekend?!

6. Head on over to the banks of the Charles River to catch the 49th annual Head of the Charles Regatta on October 18th and 19th. Be sure to wear your maroon & gold because both the men and women of BC crew will be there representing the Eagles!

7. Pick up a fall read at the famous Brattle Book Shop. This quirky bookstore is one of the oldest in America, and offers a fun outdoor lot that draws tourists and book lovers alike. Be sure to check it out before the temperature drops and the books are brought inside.

8. Check out the fall foliage in the Boston Public Garden, conveniently located at the end of Newbury Street. Enjoy the colors of fall while walking off your pumpkin spice latte from The Thinking Cup in beautiful historic Boston!

9. Enjoy the fun of Oktoberfest while avoiding the price of airfare at the 36th annual Harvard Square Oktoberfest October 12th!

10. Go watch the Celtics play in their October preseason games. Tickets are super cheap, and the TD Garden is surrounded by tons of super cool restaurants. Date night? Sounds like a slam dunk to me!

Overall, Fall is a can’t miss season in Boston-so make the most of it by exploring all this city has to offer!
