What You Should Be Doing This Thirsty Thursday and Fun Friday!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

Thursday is the start of the mental weekend, even if some of us still have class on Friday.  The weekend is supposed to be filled with fun, exciting, important activities (and maybe some homework).

Two fun, important activities are available on campus on Thursday and Friday, both at 6 pm.  They are at a time that you can do something after, these activities won’t take up your whole night.

As you may know by the chalk all around campus, October is domestic violence awareness month.  I was one of the chalk decorators, and yes on one of my side walk masterpieces I forgot the important word awareness, don’t worry I corrected it.  This month is about awareness but also to take a stand against domestic violence.

As you read on the side walk, one is too many.  1 in 4 college aged women are affected by violence.  As human beings we need to stand together, and as an all-women’s college we have to show are support for all our peers who are dealing with this issue personally.

How can you show you support?

To show your support for your fellow belles and fellow women come to the prayer vigil at 6 pm on Thursday October 2 on alumnae green.

If you are into sports and community combined, go to the volleyball game Friday October 3rd at 6 pm in Angela. The gym will be decked out in purple, because that is the color that represents domestic violence awareness.  Bella A Cappella is performing the National Anthem!  There will be purple desserts, who doesn’t want dessert?  There will also be an opportunity for you to donate money.  The game is going to a good one and so much fun.

Grab your friends, wear purple and come join us to come together to support each other and unite against sexual violence.

GO BELLES! And see you this weekend
