Name: Javier Robles (Javi)
Year: Senior
Fraternity: Kappa Alpha Psi
Major: Psychology
Relationship Status: SingleÂ
After Javier Robles was nominated for this week’s Campus Cutie for Davidson, I had the opportunity to sit down one-on-one at New Summit with him and chat about clowns, girls, and sports psychology. (Be jealous, ladies.) It need not be mentioned why Javi was selected as this week’s Campus Cutie. I mean, come on, look at that smile.
And these guns.
Needless to say I was a bit nervous for our date…I mean, interview.Â
It turns out I had nothing to worry about. From the moment he sat down (wearing a red snapback and a gray t-shirt) Javi was a friendly, funny, and down-to-earth guy.
Hometown: My parents are from the Dominican Republic, but I grew up in Jersey.
Campus Activities: Kappa Alpha Psi, PCC Chancellor, Bonner Scholar, Civic Engagement Council, Community Service Chair, and PCC Scholarship Chair.Â
Yes, that’s right ladies–he’s smart (and committed) too. Javi talked a lot about his passion for sports psychology. When I asked him about his future plans, he said that his dream is to open up sports psychology firms in all the major cities around the country. It makes sense then that his autobiography would be titled Driven: Life in the Fast Lane.
Something interesting people don’t know: I am a certified clown.
Favorite court party theme: Toga–everyone’s a drunk sloppy mess. It’s the ultimate stereotypical college party.
Piece of advice to your freshman self: Know yourself. Don’t quit.
Biggest turn-ons: I like a girl who is smart—someone who has brains. I am sapiosexual in that way. Also, confidence is key. I like girls who are ambitious but also care about others. I like a girl who knows who she is and can own it.
Biggest turn-offs: A girl who is cocky or someone who assumes a lot. I don’t like it when people act like they know me and they don’t. Negativity is a big turn off.
Celebrity Crush(es): Scarlett Johansson and Olivia Munn
Javi told me he likes to please his lady…
…and is looking for a girl who is confident in her own skin. Â
Other things he would like people to know: I like hip-hop and rap and often I am walking along singing or rapping to myself. But that doesn’t mean I’m shutting the world out—come up to me and say hi.
So if you want to get to know Javi better (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?) just go up to him, introduce yourself, and start up a conversation (ask him about how he became certified as a clown)– becoming friends (or more) with this week’s Campus Cutie is just that simple.
