Each year, fashion followers like myself eagerly anticipate the arrival of the bi-annual Fashion Weeks in New York, Milan, Paris, and London. While all followers of this fashion haven are excited for the runway shows themselves, street style is an equally, if not more engrossing component. Online publications track everyone from bloggers, to socialites, to the models themselves, allowing viewers around the globe to track the latest trends and see how daring fashionistas style the garments of the designers.

Blogger Chiara Ferragni (of The Blonde Salad) rocked a bold plaid shirt with black ostrich feather details. She kept the rest of her look simple with little black shorts and dainty jewelry to let her shirt be the focus of attention. However, it’s her friend’s dramatic baby-pink coat that stole my eye. Everything from the shade of the coat to her furry clutch (which complements Chiara’s eye-catching shirt) to the white-wool broad fedora and her ashy blonde locks made me instantly want to recreate this look.

I’ve never really been into the whole suit look but this fashionista pictured above (name unknown), is making me rethink that opinion. A navy suit has the tendency to scream “corporate” but subtle details on the outfit make all the difference. The textured fabric and blue-black color of the suit are fresh and playful, while her relaxed t-shirt keeps things comfortable. The dainty jewelry and plaid, pointy-toe pumps are simple and chic. To finish things off, she adds killer extras like the perfect red-orange lipstick (I totally need to find out who makes that), classic sunglasses and an eye-catching scarf tied around her clutch. This interpretation is definitely making me a little bit more exciting about the prospect of a nine-to-five.

This duo pictured above both wear the flowy silhouettes and mule shoes that are taking over runways this season. The lady on the left wears an all white, modern ensemble that features a flowy top contrasted by a large, structured bottom. Her skirt’s clean cut and her top’s sheer fabric prevent this outfit from becoming too drab. Her friend’s yellow ensemble is flowy as well but features a cinched-in waist and crisp details at the collar reminiscent of a trench coat to keep her looking chic. Both girls wear killer shoes and black bags, and I’m especially taken with the tortoise-shell sunglasses that the fashionista in yellow wore.

Regardless of if these trends are your favorite or not, the street style of fashion week serves as inspiration for all to get out of their comfort zones and try something different with their outfits this week. (I know I might be sporting red-orange lipstick with all white outfit to class one day).
