For many of us Collegiettes, our journey at BC is simply continuing. If you’re a freshman, though, your journey is just beginning, and there is so much to experience in your first year! Not sure what you’re supposed to do? Here are a few ideas to start your very own BC bucket list for your freshman year!
1. Go to the football game as a Superfan
Since this isn’t something I’m able to experience often, I can tell you that this is a definite must do! Being a part of the sea of yellow will definitely make you feel like you made the right choice coming to BC!
2. Convocation
Although this is required for freshmen, Convocation is a great tradition that you’ll remember through senior year and beyond.
3. Explore Boston!
Congrats, you’re in one of the best cities in the world! There are so many things to do, and it would be a waste if you didn’t take full advantage of it all. While the possibilities of things to do are endless, you could do something like…
4. Eat in the North End
Mikes or Modern? Now that you’re here, you can decide for yourself by indulging in delicious desserts like cannoli or tiramisu, preceded of course by a great Italian dinner.
5. Go to the MFA
You’re most likely going to have to go for class anyways, so why not go on your own and enjoy the artwork. At the MFA, they have something for everybody! Even the walk to the MFA from Kenmore (since nobody wants to transfer to the E line) is a beautiful must-do.
6. Go to a hockey game
BC is definitely a hockey school. Go to the game, cheer on the team (even if you don’t know what’s going on, like me), and celebrate a victory!
7. Run the Res
… Or walk, or do whatever you can to go around the reservoir. Especially at sunset, this trail gives gorgeous views of the city, and BC, and makes you forget you’re in one of the biggest cities.
8. Join a club/team/group
Whether it’s HerCampus BC, an a cappella group, or an intermural sports team, getting involved is a must. You’ll make friends, and you’ll all have something in common!
9. Take advantage of every moment at BC
As one of my favorite movies, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” That quote couldn’t be truer, because your time at BC will just fly by. Enjoy yourself, take photos, and keep mementos to remember your time here. Go to all the different comedy shows, UGBC events, and everything else happening on campus that even remotely interests you – you won’t regret it!
This is just a start to the many things you should do as a freshman, and I’m sure you’ll all have a list to be checked off. What’s on your bucket list?
