Onward To Victory, From The Eyes Of A Smick

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

Wrapping up a weekend of football I felt inspired to write a piece solely on what it is like to be a “smick chick” going to a Notre Dame football game. There are various stages in our time walking across the street and participating in over a hundred years worth of tradition. Here is what a typical game day would look like for us.

WAKE UP THE ECHOES, CHEERING HER NAME

Walking Down The Avenue

“if they travel in more than six, they must be smicks”.

OR maybe you and your girls take a bike trip down The AVE on a tandem.

Finding the perfect tailgate, with the most perfect guys, to hang out with your most perfect girls. Because everything about today is just PERFECT!

The games are fun and all. But let’s be real, half of us are only here for the selfies.

And when you get a score like this…

You end up doing this…

The walk back down the Avenue is filled with whining and complaining because our feet hurt and we’re tired. But one thing is for certain, we love the Irish.

Also, seeing the Dome isn’t horrible either.

After hours of tailgating, standing, taking pictures, and all the fun that comes with a Notre Dame home game, we get to go home to our sleepy campus with the memories we will never forget, with the friends who become our sisters.
