Quick & Easy Hair and Make-up Looks for Class

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

In a hurry to get to class, but still want to look put together? Her Campus Utah has you covered with three fast and simple hair and make-up routines so you can be on time while still looking good!

Before you begin, there are a few things you’ll want to do to prepare. As much as we wish there was, there isn’t always enough time to shower in the mornings. If you don’t have time to shower, spray dry shampoo on your roots. It will absorb the oil; making it appear as though you have freshly washed hair. You can pick up dry shampoo in any drug store. The other thing to make sure to do is wash and moisturize your face. Having left over dirt from the night before can cause your make-up to not go on as smoothly. After you’ve completed these two steps, you are ready to start!

Fresh Faced:

For this look you will need: powder foundation, concealer, blush, mascara, a pink lip-gloss, two hair elastics, bobby pins, and a teasing comb.

First, you will want to tackle those under-eye circles that are an inevitable result from all that late night studying. Take your concealer and put three dots under your eyes, gently blend with your finger or a make-up sponge. Then you will take your foundation and brush it evenly all over your face. Next is blush, a pale pink looks good on any skin tone and will automatically make you look more awake. You will swipe from the apples of your cheeks up to your temples in a backwards C formation. Finally, apply two coats of mascara to your top lashes, and voila! Your make-up is done!

The hair for this look is a high bun. Brush your hair up high into a ponytail, and secure with an elastic. Then take the tail of your pony and back-brush it with a teasing comb. Start at the very end of your hair and brush it back towards the elastic; this will cause your hair to have a fuller effect. Next, wrap your pony on the top of your head in a circular motion around the base of the ponytail, secure with the second elastic. Be sure to bobby pin any fly-aways or short layers and feel free to release a few strands of hair in the front to frame your face. Now, you’re officially ready to head out the door! Tip: Try to avoid using hairspray to secure your hair since it may weigh down your hair and cause it to become greasy.

Bright Eyed:

For this look you will need: tinted moisturizer, black eye-liner, cream colored eye shadow, mascara, lip balm, and a hair elastic.

The idea for this look is to play up your eyes! First, you will take your tinted moisturizer and evenly distribute it on your face. Make sure that the moisturizer is blended, especially along your hairline and jawbone. Next, take the eyeliner and apply it to your top lid. If you are like me and have complications with using eyeliner, here is a trick you can use: close your eye and put three dots of eyeliner on your eye lid; one in the inner corner lid, one in the middle, and one on the outer part of the lid. Then simply connect the dots one at a time to create smooth, even lines. Now, take the cream-colored eye shadow and dip the end of an eye-shadow brush into the shadow. You will use this as a highlighter. Apply it in the corner of your eyes and under your brow bone to brighten up your eyes. Finally, apply two coats of mascara to your top lashes and one coat to the bottom, and finish off with some lip balm. It’s that simple!

For your hair, create a side fish-tail braid. Fish tail braids may look difficult, but they’re actually one of the easiest hairstyles. Gather all your hair to one side and separate into two sections. Take a small section from one side and take it across to the other section. Repeat with the other side. Keep doing this until you reach the ends of your hair and secure with an elastic. Now you’re ready for class!

Perfectly Pouty:

For this look you will need: foundation, bronzer, deep red lipstick, mascara, and two hair elastics.

Start off by applying foundation; you can use either liquid or powder foundation. After your foundation is applied, take your bronzer and in one motion swipe from the temples, to the apples of your cheeks, and to your jawline. Then apply two coats of mascara to your top lashes. Since perfectly, pouty lips is the statement of this look, we want to keep the face very simple. Lipstick is a great way to make it look like you spent hours getting ready, but really it only takes less than ten seconds! Apply the red lipstick to your lips. The dark red color compliments fair to dark skin tones, so don’t worry you’ll rock this look! Tip: If you tend to have oily skin in the mornings, powder foundation will work best.

With this make-up, your hair will look best in a half bun. You will start by putting half of your hair in a ponytail. To do this, section off the top layers of your hair with one elastic while leaving the bottom layer down. Now, take the pony into two sections and criss-cross each section over until you run out of hair. Then take the pony and wrap it around the elastic in a circular motion and secure with bobby pins.

You can now ditch that lazy style because these looks are practically effortless. They’re so simple and anyone can do them!
