During college it can be tough trying to maintain good grades, stay involved and maintain a healthy social life as a full time student. However, this week’s hercampus celebrity somehow finds time to do it all. Between his challenging major and impressive list of extra-curricular activities, it’s questionable whether senior, Jeremy Shaw ever has time to sleep. I sat down with Shaw to find out more.
Name: Jeremy Shaw
Grade: Senior
Major: Cellular molecular biology
Hometown: Cortland, OH
Her Campus: What organizations are you involved in on campus?
Jeremy: I’m the Member at Large for Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Vice President Flash-a-thon, a team captain of the Men’s Soccer Club, a member of KSU dodgeball, a member of Knitting for those in need, a volunteer for Campus kitchen, the President of the Regenerative Medicine Club and a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

HC: If you were to acknowledge someone for the successes you’ve had thus far who would it be and why?
J: Everybody, seriously so many. The co-captain of the soccer team, Cody. The guys on the dodgeball team, Ann Gosky, the entire flash-a-thon crew, the vice president of the regenerative  medicine club who will be taking it over when I graduate…I could go on and on.
HC: Describe your mom using one word
J: Perfect, I am a mommas boy. I also need to add her to that list. She always said “bust your butt in school and everything else will fall into place.”
HC: What are your plans after graduation?
J: Getting my PHD at the University of Virginia in biomedical sciences.
HC:Â If you could be any alcoholic beverage which one would you be and why?
J: Four Loko, it’s not my favorite but that would be what I would be because I’m kind of crazy and you’re not gonna sleep when you’re drinking that.
HC: So, do you ever sleep?
J: I catch up occasionally, only when I’m sick. Why sleep? You can sleep when you’re dead, there are more important things to do now.
HC: What is one piece of advice you would give an incoming freshmen?
J: Get involved. There are so many amazing clubs on campus and nobody knows about half of them. No matter what you love there is something out there for you and if there isn’t, then it’s so easy to make it. You won’t get the most out of your college experience unless you do more than just schoolwork.
HC:Â Where do you see yourself in ten years?
J: Hopefully out of school. One day I want to have my own lab… preferably have my own lab and be teaching at a college and either doing cancer or stem cell research.

On top of his intense list of extra-curricular activities, Jeremy volunteers, describes his mom as perfect and might find the cure to cancer one day. But as of now one thing is for sure, Jeremy Shaw might just be one of Kent State University’s most eligible bachelors. Â
