I can honestly say that despite the fact that I still have no hearing in my right ear almost 24-hours later, I just attended one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Country singer-songwriters Sam Hunt and David Nail played a show at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Mo., this past Saturday. The venue was breathtaking and the music was through-the-roof incredible. All in all, it was one amazing show.

Sam Hunt, the opening act, was by far one of my favorite shows I’ve seen. You might know his songs from other artists like Kenny Chesney, Billy Currington and Keith Urban. Hunt wrote their mega-hits “Come Over”, “We Are Tonight” and “Cop Car.” Personally though, I think his other songs are even better. His music alone is fantastic, but seeing him live is a must. The crowd was engaged the entire time, which is huge for the opening act to pull off. You can find Sam Hunt’s music on Samhunt.com and download his “Between The Pines” mixtape for free for the next week. Following that, he is expected to release his debut album later this year.
Spotlight Songs:
- “Breakup In A Small Town”
The studio version of this song will not be out until the album is released, but there are plenty of videos of the song online if you want to check it out! The song is a super cool mix of country, pop and hip-hop, but had a very hip hop feel to it. I know you’re intrigued now. It doesn’t sound like that would all work together, but, trust me. It does.
- “Speakers”
I almost died of excitement when he sang this song. You can find the studio version of “Speakers” on his mixtape out right now. It really shows how unique his style is. Before you know it, you’ll have this song blaring through your speakers.
- “Leave The Night On”
It is absolutely impossible to not be happy while listening to this song. “Leave the Night On” is the feel-good song of the mixtape and an automatic mood-booster whenever you need it!
David Nail came on the stage shortly after Sam Hunt and performed a lot of crowd favorites such as “Red Light,” “Let It Rain” and “Whatever She’s Got,” as well as a variety of new tunes. Nail just released a new album, “I’m A Fire,” in early March. The set list was a great mix of old favorites and soon-to-be singles.
Spotlight Songs:
- “Let It Rain”
David Nail has amazing new songs, but I think, no matter what, “Let It Rain” will always be a top favorite. The crowd went wild on this song, it just never gets old.
- “Whatever She’s Got”
This recent single off of his new album makes for a great summer feel-good song. It was definitely another crowd favorite and made everyone want to get up and dance.
-  “Kiss You Goodnight”
This song is the newest single off the album, and it shows the never-ending good singles from David Nail. If you listen to country radio, you’ll be sure to hear this one very soon.
Both of these amazing artists’ performances can be found on YouTube if you want a taste of what their concert is like. Believe me, I saved you all by not linking my videos; it’s better you watch them sing it and not me screaming the lyrics over their voice.
