With the last week of class followed by finals, it’s safe to say we are all swamped with work. Unfortunately, everyone decides to study in Howie T, making it overcrowded. With the addition of the constant construction noise, Howie T is no longer the place to study. If you are in desperate need of a replacement place to study or you just want a place to study and chat, check out these coffee shops!
1. Z’otz
A truly unique place to go, Z’otz is filled with interesting knick-knacks and furniture. It really has a great ambience. With good coffee and a great location on Oak Street past Carrollton, you can’t go wrong with Z’otz.
2. Village Coffee
Village Coffee is another great option that is located fairly close to campus on Freret and Jefferson. The iced coffee there is pretty good, but most importantly, Village Coffee has a study room upstairs where you can really only whisper if you’re with friends. Sounds just like Howie T minus the construction and crowds!
3. Still Perkin’
This is without a doubt my favorite coffee shop in the city. Although you do need a car to get there with its location on Prytania and Washington Avenue, it’s got a great atmosphere with many locals coming in and out, along with tourists. It’s in a beautiful neighborhood, and they have chocolate chip cookies the size of your face…how could you want anything more?
4. Starbucks
I know, I know, corporate America, but hear me out: if you go to Starbucks at the right time, there’s really not that many people there, and it has a great patio for outdoor seating on beautiful days. You can be certain that you’ll run into at least one person you know: a great distraction for a few minutes when you just need to turn your brain off.
