Every year, the tents go up in O’Neill plaza and on Stokes lawn. The chairs and instruments are lined up in Gasson. Every year, the Boston College Arts Council brings the BC community and the surrounding communities together for a weekend of talent in the arts, known as Arts Festival.
The schedule for this fantastic weekend can be found here and, as in previous years, there are a variety of ways to recognize accomplished students. From dropping by an acapella or dance showcase, to heading to Robsham to see a performance of The Drowsy Chaperone. You can listen to readings from graduating Creative Writing Concentrators (a special track of the English major), or watch the Dramatics Society act out literary classics during the Shakespeare Showcase. If you have yet to see Kerry Cronin in person, you can watch her interview Anne Garefino, the executive producer of BC2Boston favorite, The Book of Mormon.
I will personally be grabbing my blanket and hot chocolate and heading to Devlin until midnight on Thursday to take part in the South Park marathon, listening to faculy of the English department read their own work on Friday afternoon, and swinging by Dancing with bOp! on Saturday night to support the Boston College Bands program.
If you’re looking to entertain family or witness the unbridled joy of children, be sure to stop by the Stokes lawn on Saturday from 12-5, where you can watch as members of the Boston College Marching Band put on an “Instrument Petting Zoo”, or decorate some delicious cookies.
Shopping for a Mother’s Day gift? Check out the Crafts Sale daily from 12-5 in the Quad, where student-made scarves, jewelry, pottery and more will be available for purchase and appreciation!
Check out the 16th Annual Arts Festival from Thursday, April 24th to Saturday, April 26th. You won’t regret it!
