Finals are coming up way sooner than we would like, as usual.
(The last time I checked it was barely March.)
And the stress reliever that most people rely on to make it through the week is eating.
Like eating until we are miserably full.
It makes sense. Engaging the senses, like taste, can relieve stress.
However, when relying on food to make yourself less stressed brings about a never ending cycle of being stressed, over-eating, and being stressed from over-eating.
So HC Auburn pulled together some legitimate tips to relieve stress, that don’t involve food, with some comic relief kitties along the way!
Who knows, reading this article might even do the trick.
1) Dance your heart out
Dancing is like a double-whammy, it satisfies your sense to hear and gives you a chance to move, which are both good for de-stressing.
2) Listen up
Listening to music that is calming is, well, calming.
3) Chat it up
Just knowing that someone is listening to your problems helps you reassure yourself and hearing a comforting voice in response is always a bonus.
4) Just breathe!
Taking slow deep breaths helps oxygenate the blood, which allows your body to center and relax.
5) Talk to yourself…even if you look crazy
Telling yourself it will be okay really works because it helps you organize your thoughts and reprioritize your schedule.
6) Find something laughable
Laughing releases endorphins to trick your nervous system into thinking you are happy.
7) Find your inner Zen
Try meditation or yoga. Being physically and mentally aware of yourself helps prevent stress from happening in the first place.
8) Do work!
Exercising improves circulation and helps boost your mood immediately.
9) Claim sanctuary, really
Take 10 minutes to make yourself an uncluttered space where you can be comfortable to work. Place a picture of your friends or family nearby, or anything that makes you happy.
10) Chew gum
Chewing gum allows you to satisfy your taste without indulging on everything in the kitchen.
So, hopefully you will relieve some stress with these tips…
But by the end of the week you may feel like you have been hit by a truck.
But try to make studying fun and remember that everything will be okay.
