Her Campus: Why did you decide to come to Ramapo?Michele Mattia: I mainly chose Ramapo for the fact that it’s close enough where I have the option of going home if I’d like to, yet far enough to have a dorming experience. Although I’m only about 30 minutes away from my town, the environment is so different and gives me a totally different vibe as if I’m in the country. The campus scenery is beautiful!
HC: What are your hobbies on campus?MM: My hobbies on campus include working out and being an active member of my sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi. I try to keep myself as busy as possible, and although I complain about being so hectic all the time, I definitely secretly enjoy the craziness of each week. I’m excited to experience new events on campus and keep myself going.
HC: What do you like to do outside of school?MM: My hobbies off campus are going to concerts, watching baseball, spending time in New York City and meeting different celebrities. The last one probably sounds like a peculiar hobby but it’s definitely something I look forward to when my friend and I have the chance. We usually go to different TV shows that offer free tickets to meet them or find out when they are having signings. Some of my favorites that I’ve met are the Jonas Brothers, One Direction, and Taylor Lautner!
HC: What’s your dream job?
MM: My dream job is to become a professional broadcaster in the entertainment or sports field. I’ve actually co-hosted a few times for This Week at Ramapo on campus so that’s definitely been a lot of fun and has helped me to gain more skills reporting on camera.
HC: I heard you’ve done contests for tickets and such, can you tell me more about that?
MM: Yes! I’ve been so blessed and lucky, especially in these past two years winning contests! Last year, I won a trip through our school bookstore to travel to Beverly Hills for a charity red carpet event, which was one of the most exciting adventures EVER. I also had the opportunity to basically play a game show with the Jonas Brothers on MTV with my friend and let’s just say it ended with Nick Jonas putting lipstick on my face and laughing at me. Let’s just say if you have an in interest something, and there is a contest being held for it, the least you can do is apply because you never know!
HC: What do you look for in a partner?MM: I hold high standards when it comes to a partner, because I want to make sure that I am treated with respect and loyalty because I intend to do the same in return. Some other traits I look for include a sense of humor, nice eyes, and someone who has a sense of adventure and can surprise me.
