Alpha Omicron Pi’s Jude Dauer is a junior on campus most known for singing her heart out and playing acoustic guitar at different events, but that’s not all there is to know about her.
Her Campus: What kind of guitar do you play? How long have you been playing?
Jude Dauer: I only play acoustic guitar, but I also play violin and piano. I’ve been playing guitar on-and-off for 4 years, violin for 8 years, and piano for 10 years.
HC: What are your favorite songs to play?
JD: My favorite songs to play are songs that people can sing along to. I really like to play “Jack Johnson” and “Hey Jude” by the Beatles. I play a lot of classical songs on the violin, and I also really enjoy fiddling. On piano, I play both classical music and some more songs I like to sing to, like “Drops of Jupiter” and “Boston” by Augustana.
HC: What kinds of songs would you like to write?
JD: If I did write my own songs, I have no idea what they would be like, but probably something having to do with strong emotions.
HC: What events/shows have you played in the past?
JD: I performed classical violin and piano pieces a lot for local shows and I once performed for a show in Italy. My first Greek event was “A-E-Cutie-Pi,” and it was the first time I ever played guitar and sang in front of people. After that, I performed in Kappa Sigma’s “Greek Goddess” and Theta Phi Alpha’s “Say-What Karaoke.”
HC: Can we expect to see you in the future?
JD: I get more and more comfortable being on stage with each performance, and I definitely want to play in more shows. For future performances, I want to play one of the other instruments. I also want to play some songs in the Linden Coffee house.
