Freshman Musical Theater major Katie Rogers rocks Point Park’s campus with her unique and fashion-forward style. You can frequently see Katie in patterned tights and flowing dresses that are sure to catch your eye. Her Campus Point Park interviewed Katie on her brilliant taste in fashion and how other girls might be able to steal some style pointers from her!
HC: How would you describe your style?
Katie: My style is Zooey Deschanel if she were poor and could only shop the defected clothes rack at Forever 21. But seriously, it’s somewhere between feminist killjoy and a 2nd grader whose mother let her pick out her clothes.
HC: What are some of your wardrobe staples?
Katie: Dresses are essential. I only own two pairs of pants and I avoid them at all costs. Tights are also a must, the crazier and quirkier the better.
HC: What trends are you excited to show off this spring?
Katie: This spring I’m really excited for cutoff tops. I love going to Goodwill and getting shirts I won’t feel bad about cutting up, or finding shirts that are too small and repurposing them.
HC: Where do you shop?
Katie: I’m a huge fan of Forever 21 and the little thrift stores in Lawrenceville. When I have the cash I try and shop at Modcloth and Urban Outfitters.
HC: How could people recreate your style for themselves?
Katie: If people want to recreate my style, I say find what you love, put it on, and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about it. I know my style is bold and eclectic, but it works because I’m comfortable in what I wear. Half the battle of pulling off an outfit is confidence; if you feel good, you’re going to look good!
