I think this weather has taken its toll on just about everyone. This has got to be one of the worst winters we have experienced in our young lives.  This never-ending negative degree weather is truly affecting our moods and motivation.  This winter has been so bitter than when temperatures miraculously reach 30 degrees; half of CMU’s campus is outside running in shorts.Â
This winter just needs to be over.
Here are 10 reasons why we can’t wait for this unbearable winter to be over.Â
1. This winter has made it absolutely impossible to get out of bed. Stay in my warm cozy bed, or get up and start my day in this arctic tundra? Tough decision. Â
2. Probably because you’re dreading scarping all the ice off of your car, while your fingers feel like they are going to break off like icicles. Â
3. Two words: Driving. Anxiety. These weather conditions make driving super nerve racking. You shouldn’t have to feel like you’re risking your life just to run out and grab a bagel from Panera.
4. The buildups of the snow and ice days have also been a disappointment when looking on twitter the next morning or getting the CMU alert, only to find out school is not cancelled. If this weather is going to be this depressing, can’t it be put to at least some good use?
5. Pretty sure it is impossible to get over sickness in this weather.
6. You’ve been that girl coughing in class ALL SEMESTER.
7.  A stellar fashion sense gets put on the back burner when it’s this cold out.  Sometimes a girl just needs to sacrifice the cute pea coat, fashion scarf and riding boots to bundle up and bear the freakishly cold weather. I’d rather make it out alive than look cute.
8. This winter we have lost count of how many, “I can’t wait to move out of Michigan tweets” we’ve read. Â
9. Walks to class can be the most embarrassing events of your week. With a combination of the ice and your book bag weighing you to one side, you’re lucky if you make it to class without falling completely under your feet.
10. You’d rather stay in, in sweat pants, with mass amounts of popcorn, rather than enjoy a night on the town in -30 degree weather.
It’s safe to say Michiganders are more than over this polar vortex. But hey, we are going to appreciate spring that much more this year. And I don’t think we will ever complain about another 80+ degree-day again! Brave it out, it’s almost over. Â
