Chipotle: Farmed and Dangerous

Have you ever been to a Chipotle where the line isn’t at or past the door? I haven’t. This is always the case to all Chipotle locations I’ve been to!  

What is it that draws everyone in? For many it’s the ability to eat “fast food” that is fresh and a healthy alternative. It’s also the ability to customize your own meal. My go-to combination is salad bowl, a spoon of brown rice, pinto beans, chicken, roasted chili-corn salsa and fresh tomato salsa.

Chipotle prides itself in providing “food with integrity.” These are meats from free range farms where they are raised without antibiotics, hormones, or synthetic hormones; along with ingredients that are organic. In their continued effort to raise awareness a comedy show was created. Now available free on Hulu, “Farmed and Dangerous” is a 4 episode series that uses satire to shed light on industrial agriculture in America. 

Within the first five minutes it became clear that manipulation of laws and policies put into place for our health is common. “People die from eating not starving, that’s progress,” says Buck Marshal from the Cooperation.  The storyline is meant to show how far these corporations are willing to go to make money. While exaggerated to a certain degree, I doubt that Farmed and Dangerous’ portrayal is far off.

Her Campus UCF got the chance to view the series last Thursday. The collegiettes of UCF loved the documentary and definitely loved the table full of Chipotle!
