I don’t know about you, but I killed the tan game over spring break (granted, I hail from Miami, so I kind of have an unfair advantage). Plenty of students flock south while on break to restore the melanin their skin so badly craves while it’s hidden under layers of winter wear. But I have some bittersweet news for my fellow bronzed Wolverines: that rich tan won’t last forever, so you should flaunt it while you can. Here are 6 ways to work that tan before it’s gone.
1. Slouchy white tops, like this one. They’re comfy enough to wear to class, and they’re also perfect for those days when you decide to plant yourself in the Ugli and casually run into people study for exams.
2. Neon workout clothes. Reflective neon colors somehow have this glorious way of making you look deeply, deeply tan, and you could use the extra bit of encouragement at the gym whenever you check yourself out in the mirror.
3. A light-wash denim shirt. Denim shirts (dirts?!) are totally having a moment right now, and you’d be a fool not to break yours out, especially as the temperatures start to rise again. Light wash denim with the sleeves rolled up, if done right, have the ability to look fierce, like a “country-turned-big-city-girl who knows she’s badass because she knows how to milk a cow and also where are the sickest vintage stores are.”
4. Lots of rings. When your hands are tan, cute rings will draw more attention to them, which can be a really good thing considering your hands are pretty much showing all the time, even when nothing else is. Bonus points for rocking Essie Fiji–the ultimate flattering nail polish color, no matter who you are and where you’re from.
5. A white mini-dress. These obviously aren’t for every day wear (unless you’re into wearing a cocktail dress on the reg, and in which case, you do you), but surely you have a sorority formal or a charity ball or something to attend within the next few weeks. In a cute white dress, you’ll stand out in the sea of LBDs. Complete the look with amazing shoes, or we’re not friends.
For those who didn’t get a chance to hit the beach this spring break, those who prefer the shade, and those who don’t tan at all, don’t fret–these trends are still up for grabs. ‘Tis the season, after all, to slowly start putting away those coats and remembering (and celebrating!) the body you’ve got underneath.
